Become Your Own Champion

By
Laura Dion-Jones

“To be a champ, you have to believe in yourself
when nobody else will.”

Sugar Ray Robinson
(1920-1989, American boxer)

I’m lucky. I’ve always believed in myself - even now when I feel insecure and have doubts. When I was younger, I was told I was less by those who mattered most. Then I grew up. And I made sure I grew strong. And I made sure I always had the total support of my self – no matter what.
A lot of people who come to me for motivation, weight loss and fitness help don’t have any support at all. Instead, they hear how fat they are, how they couldn’t lose weight if their life depended on it, how they can’t do anything right, how worthless they are, how stupid and ugly they are, and a whole lot more. Life is tough enough without all that devious drama from one demon after another.
Sometimes the weight loss part is the least of it. Sometimes it’s just proving to yourself that when all else fails you can do something, anything, that’s positive and good for you, too.

Begin now to prove to yourself that you’re stronger than those who say you can’t; stronger than any favorite foods that are keeping you fat; stronger than being lazy and not getting out to exercise daily.
I know for me, besides my sometimes dicey physical situation, it became an issue of control – if I could do nothing else right in my life, I could have command over how much I ate and how much I exercised daily.
This was at a time when everything in my life was out of my control, and I mean everything, or so I thought.
I figured if I could do nothing else right, if nothing was working in my favor, I could at least learn to gain power over my self, my eating, my weight loss and my daily walking.
I did everything I could, including calling on a higher power, to convince myself that I could do it, that I could lose those 150 pounds I needed to lose and I wasn’t stopping until I did.
Being master of my fate means more to me than staying fat, more than all the chocolate, all the sweets, all the breads, pastas, potatoes, rice, cookies, cakes, pies, ice cream, or Ding-Dongs on the planet.
It has to mean more to you, too.
So, stop foolin’ around. Get on with it. You know what to do by now. You know how to eat right. You know that you have to exercise daily. There is no other way to get the weight off. And keep it off.
Besides, summer’s just around the corner. If you think you’re uncomfortable right now – just wait . . .
To be a champ, you truly have to believe in yourself when
no one else will.

Never Give Up On Your Dream

By
Laura Dion-Jones

“Never give up on a dream
just because of the time it will take to accomplish it.
The time will pass anyway.”
Earl Nightingale

Don’t let today’s frigid, first day of spring fool ya – but at 7:02 AM, Wednesday morning, spring officially arrived.
Now everyone needs to spring into action and take hold of their weight loss and wellness and get into a healthy lifestyle frame of mind.
Winter’s gloom is almost over and it’s time to get our butts outside and do more things in the warmer weather - namely, daily cardio walking!

What’s it gonna take for you to make a Commitment to yourself to Get Fit and let me help you find the secret to your own true and everlasting weight loss?
What’s it gonna take for you to schlep your walking shoes to work for a nice lunchtime jaunt around the parking lot, forest preserve, trail, block, or up and down about 10-20 flights of stairs – squeezing in a bit of much-needed daily cardio?
What else do you do on your lunch hour but blab, waste time and feed your face – with the wrong stuff anyway?
And developing this healthy walking habit will also help you alleviate stress along with everything else that ails you
      Trust me.
If your dream is to be svelte or Speedo-worthy by summer, what’s standing in your way – but y-o-u?
Figure out what your roadblock to getting fit is and rid yourself of it
Meditate about it, pray about it, but whatever you do – take steps to obliterate that obstacle and get your butt moving in a much healthier direction.
Combine your daily cardio practice with a good, healthy, low carb eating plan and watch what happens. Your weight will literally melt off like magic, I promise, but you gotta wanna – and you have to be dedicated and diligent in your efforts – you know you can’t do anything like this half-assed.
You have to be ready to give it your all – and that means you have to make up your mind to begin right now, today, right where you are.
Regardless of what food you have in your house and fridge – eliminate everything that doesn’t support your new health and fitness eating plan.
Ditch the oatmeal, cereals, breads, pastas, cookies, and cakes. Purge all the rest of those white starch and sugar carbs lurking around and get yourself going . . . better to give these things to friends who can afford to eat them or throw them away – cos if you don’t, you know what you’re doing?
You’re wearing it all – and it shows . . .
Never give up on your dream to be healthier and more fit just because of the time it will take to accomplish it.
What else do you have to do with yourself?
The time will pass anyway – whether you’re stuck in your own hot mess sitting there on your sofa night after night, wishing you weren’t so fat, while watching everyone else Commit To Get Fit – or getting your butt out that door and taking your cardio walk today and everyday – for the health of it.
        It’s all up to you . . .

Create Your Own Future – Now!

By
Laura Dion-Jones

It is said that -
"Depression is the inability to construct a future."
(Rollo May)

If so – it’s no wonder a lot of you are increasingly depressed with your struggle to lose weight.
And, is it any wonder that you feel helpless when your health, fitness and mortality are at stake?
There’s almost nothing I hate more than seeing people grapple with their weight . . .

Drifting from one diet to the next – all in hopes that this time will be the last time. This time it’ll be just the “magic bullet” they’re looking for – and to think you’re gonna lose it all without daily cardio is crazy. Trust me - so get that thought outta your head right now – I don’t care what any of the “experts” say. Most haven’t been there. I have. I’ve lived a lifetime in obesity’s shoes.
A good diet and daily cardio go hand in hand to get it all off and keep it all off – once and for all. Period.
And if you don’t believe me, take this past Saturday night, for instance: I met a few Fab friends for dinner at Margaritaville at Chicago’s Navy Pier.
When my pals showed up, I was aghast to see one of them had regained all the weight she’d previously lost – plus more.
I could tell she felt self-conscious having me see her that way because of how she acted and the guilty looks she shot me.
And at the same time, I was trying to hide my sadness and disappointment at seeing her in that condition, too. She had come to far in her weight loss and wellness journey to let it all pile back on - because of carby foods and the excuse that she’s too busy to squeeze in her daily cardio.
Nonetheless, we ate like we were gonna be shot at sunrise, me included – the one who knows better. The one who needs to set a good example for others whenever she’s with them.
But it was Saturday night, after all, we each reasoned. We’re here to EAT and bond over food!
Saturday night supper is special diet dispensation no matter how you look at it, right?
Wrong. This privilege only applies after you’ve lost all
your weight . . . not while you’re trying to re-commit to get fit – not while you’re on your way back down the scale – again.
And you know when you need to absolutely put your foot down, and do something about your weight and wellness right this second because you’ll never be able to lose your unhealthy, unwanted weight once and for all if you can't construct a plan.
A well thought out health and fitness strategy is one of the biggest keys to your future fitness, health and happiness.
This is where I can help.
Tune in on Monday, April 1st at 7 PM CST for the first of 12 weekly half-hour episodes of Commit To Get Fit With Laura Dion-Jones on CAN-TV, Chicago Cable Access Network, and also available across the Universe to listen live through my website, www.commit-fit.com.

Or, invite me to your workplace, community center, church or any other organization to help you Commit To Get Fit With Laura Dion-Jones and find the secret to your own true and everlasting weight loss.
If depression really is the inability to construct a future, I’d get busy constructing if I were you - create your new health and fitness plan that you can live with forever.
There’re lots of other things in life to be depressed about besides something you have total control of – like your weight, health, fitness and life . . .
