Happy New Year!!!!

By
Laura Dion-Jones

“Patience and perseverance have a magical effect
before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.”
John Quincy Adams

It takes patience and perseverance to accomplish anything in life, unless you’re a fortunate member of the “Lucky Sperm Club,” then opportunities just seem to fall into your lap.
Here’s a little year end reminder that no matter who you are, you need to develop patience and perseverance when it comes to Committing To Get Fit and losing your unhealthy, unwanted weight once and for all. There are no quick fixes and I think we all know this by now.
Improved health and fitness are no accident.
You must learn to develop these virtues and diet and fitness habits every single day, and they will serve you well in whatever you do – especially in your weight loss and wellness program.
Every morning take a few moments to think about what you’re going to do that day and what you’re going to eat and how and where you’re going to squeeze in your hour’s walk, weight training or other cardio exercise.
Do this every single morning when you meditate. Or, you can do it in your own way, but just get those thoughts rolling ‘round in your head first thing each morning. This is one habit that will richly reward you in every aspect of your life.
And you can make a New Year’s resolution on any day of the year you want and need to – not only on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day.
Just in case you slip . . . every single day is New Year’s Day if you want it to be.
Patience and perseverance do have incredibly magical effects
before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.
Make your excess weight vanish, and your diet obstacles and difficulties disappear by including patience and perseverance in your New Year’s fitness resolutions for the coming year.
Better health and wellness success are no accident.

Happy Holidays 2012!

By
Laura Dion-Jones

Happy Almost New Year!! I hope you’re enjoying a fabulous and fit holiday season like I am.

I know how hard it is to stay on track when cupcakes, chocolates and all manner of homemade desserts are calling your name - and carb-laden goodies are everywhere you turn (I am, after all, the admitted “eggnog …or any nog…freak”). But I also know how good it feels when the scale reads lower than it did the week or even the day before. Beats any carb high I’ve ever experienced!

Speaking of experiences, I’m really excited to share my latest -- a brand new Commit to Get Fit website, filled with all sorts of helpful info on health and wellness, managing your weight and living a more fit, happy, productive life.

I think you’ll like my fave fitness and lifestyle resources. I know I’m sharing pure gold on the medical resources page, too -- the health and medical gods and goddesses who have helped me become the fit, happy, healthy woman I am today. And there’s all sorts of other good-to-know stuff, including info on my new workshops and seminars launching in 2013.

I’d love to hear what you think, so please send me feedback after you’ve visited the site.

And don’t forget to sign up for my new weekly motivational newsletter while you’re there. Gonna be filled with tips and trends and how-to-stay-on-track uber-motivational tidbits. I promise to keep it fast and fun, so you have more time to get out there and do more daily cardio (you knew I was going to say that)!

So, come get your new health and fitness program rolling for once and for all!

I wish you and your loved ones nothing but good things in the coming New Year – and a very healthy, happy holiday and look forward to sharing a fit and fabulous 2013 with you.

Laura

T’was the Night Before the Big Weigh-In
By
Laura Dion-Jones

T’was the night before the new Commit To Get Fit weigh-in and all through the house, not a creature was stirring nor eating a low carb mouse.
The scale was placed on the floor right in front of the fridge, in hopes that the Carb Fairy wouldn’t notice anyone’s ‘idge.
Micky in her kerchief, and Mike in his cap, were all settled in with popcorn, Pepsi, their kids and some snacks.
When what to my watering eyes should appear, none other than Laura, the Motivation Maven, and her Commit To Get Fit pals in all their fine feathered gear.
“Get up off that sofa, you lazy little sloths, you’re lookin’ like Tony Soprano’s boys hangin’ ‘round the “Stugots.”
Strap on them walking shoes, Micky, Mikey and all, Commit To Get Fit with Laura now - or else risk a big health fall.”
“Please help us, please help us!” cried Micky, Mike and the kids – we promise to move more and eat healthier –
if we only knew what that is!
We swear we’ll all come Commit To Get Fit and follow your lead – just tell us there’s hope so we’re sure we’ll succeed.
We’re tired of struggling and not getting anywhere, if you’ll please show us the way you did it – then we’re sure to get there.
We promise we’ll give up those unhealthy, poisonous, nasty old carbs and we’ll even walk every day instead of taking the car.
We wanna be healthy and we wanna get fit. Speedo-worthy by summer sounds good, too, but we know our diet, daily cardo and health’s really it.
We gotta change our workout habits, gotta learn something new. We’re ready to do whatever it takes, like walking ‘round the block or even the zoo. We swear we’re gonna start right away, just you wait and see! We’re on it – we swear - for better health and fitness is the only way to be.
We’ve heard all the stories and read your successful stats. We pray your motivational ways will finally help us – we’re sick of being fat.
And we know we can’t accomplish this weight loss thing in just a few days, but we swear on all your fine Reindeer we’re ready to change our bad ways.
We know we’re committing for the longest of hauls – we have to Commit To Get Fit with Laura to show we’ve got gall.
Laura’s class will help you for the rest of your life, she’ll teach you healthy eating, moving daily and it will all save you from strife.
Make “We lost it with Laura” your new battle cry – come Commit To Get Fit with Laura and watch your weight vanish in almost the blink of an eye.
Everyone wins in this weight loss challenge this go’round – cos the prize is your life and a healthier future - all safe and all sound.
So, if this isn’t compelling enough - even for you – well then, just continue to count those carbs from Christmas into the New Year – be sure to walk daily and join Laura and her Crew in January for a brand new, happier, healthier, more fun you!

Happy Holidays to all y’all and a Merry good night!

Ms./Mr. Boudreaux Prays For A Pass

By Laura Dion-Jones

“A man, as a general rule, owes very little to what he is born with

a man is what he makes himself.

Alexander Graham Bell

Ms. Bonnie Boudreaux, or for you guys, Mr. Bubba Boudreaux, was driving down the street all in a sweat because she/he had an important Holiday party to attend, absolutely nothing in her/his cramped closet that fit, and was having no luck finding an appropriate outfit that would accommodate her/his ever-burgeoning body.
Looking up toward Heaven, she/he said, “Lord, take pity on me. If you find me a wonderful outfit that fits me and makes me look gorgeous, I will go to Mass every Sunday for the rest of my life (or temple every High Holiday and Shabbat), start walking each and every single day, and give up eating white, starchy, sugary carbs forever.”
Miraculously, a stunning, well-fitting dress suit appeared in the very next shop she/he went into.
Ms./Mr. Boudreaux looked Heavenward again and said, “Never mind, Lord. I just found one.”

How many of us live our lives like this – making deals, praying for a pass, never managing to start that all-important, save-your-life diet until it’s too late?

We think we’ll always manage to skate by, the whole while staying heavier than we know is right and damaging our heart, organs, limbs, ego, psyche, and the rest of our body by hauling around that weighty, excess poundage. All because we insist on eating the wrong foods, claim we simply cannot give up white starch and sugar carbs, and are just too dang lazy to exercise daily.
The Holidays are breathing down your neck as we speak. What are you waiting for, New Year’s Day? By then, it’ll be too late. Your weight could balloon up another 10 pounds between now and then. Why put yourself through that?
This Christmas, Chanukah, and New Year’s Eve, how about cutting the amount of scrumptious stuffing, candied sweet potatoes, buttery smashed potatoes, crusty bread and sweeter-than-sugar desserts that you normally eat - in half? Better yet – cut back your portions to just a whopping-good taste of these things. You’re not gonna die, and as a bonus, you won’t feel over-stuffed and in a carb coma like you usually are at these gatherings.

Take this as your cue to begin moving in a new, healthier direction for the New Year.
And, by all means – get everyone up from the Holiday table between dinner and dessert and go for a nice, brisk walk. Before dessert!
To hell with the dishes for right now.

Tell the hostess Laura said so.

Then, go out and make something of yourself – “Commit To Get Fit with Laura,” and learn how to make yourself into a new, improved, healthier version of you for 2013.

Happy Holidays, Y’all!
